The Caņon City Area Recreation and Park District is a special district that was established in 1965. The District is approximately 115 square miles in size. The District is governed by a five member Board, whom are elected at large from citizens living or owning property within the District boundries. Elections are conducted in May of every other year. The Board conducts monthly meetings at the District's main office, located at 575 Ash Street. The meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month beginning at 7:00 pm.

The District currently owns and operates Rouse Park, John Griffin Park, the Arkansas Riverwalk, the Ropes Challege Course, the Icabone Swimming Pool, Pathfinder Regional Park and the Community Room, which is located within the main office.

The most popular service the District provides to the community is recreational programs. These include youth sports, adult sports, kids klub and special events. You can find out more about the programs we offer by clicking on the navigation bar on the left.

The District works in conjunction with the City of Caņon City, Fremont County, RE-1 School District, Fremont Sanitation District and many local businesses to provide services to the citizens of the community.

The District currently employs 12 full time employees and about 200 seasonal and part time employees.
